  • How I made it - Learn from those who have achieved success.
  • Making it - Learn what it really takes to succeed and ways to make your rise faster by avoiding the mistakes and bad attitudes that cause 99% of would be artists to fail.
  • How to Articles - New articles are posted regularly to help you improve your craft and further your career.
  • Video Lessons - Here you’ll find our best lessons on video at you tube.  The next best thing to having an in person teacher.
  • Self Promotion Tips - Various products selected by us that can help you in the creation of your art.  From books to software to supplies.  Check here first.  If you know of a product that especially helped you, let us know.
  • Ask the Expert - Question and answer section where experts answer your questions.
  • Take Lessons in your Area - Business members can list their rates and specialties for free.  This will be a great resource as time goes by for those looking for lessons.  On-line lessons will be offered soon.
  • Professionals Interested in Submitting Articles - If you are a paid, professional artist, and would like to submit a How To article.  Email us your idea and qualifications.  If you use your article, you will be given a link and short bio at the end of your article as payment.  Plus, if we use it in Owl Creek Journal, you will be given a free contributors copy and free associate 1 years membership (a $40 value).
  • Associations - Here are associations related to various sectors of the arts.  While those can seem somewhat costly ($75 and up in most cases), these are really the first step every artist should take - here you’ll find resources galore, get a chance to attend a conference, get the latest industry news and see what’s around the bend.  Most feature newsletters, we consider membership in PMA as vital as a musicians instrument, or a writers pen (or computer).  At least learn all you can from their websites, but you need to join at least if you are serious about making money at this.Conferences - Another great investment, especially if you have a growing body of work, as you often can have the chance to meet agents and publishers at these events.  See the Making It section for tips on attending conferences and etiquette.
  • Art Colonies - Here you can get away from it all and often participate in learning workshops and critiques of your work.
  • Trade Shows - Often less expensive then conferences but just as valuable in regards to making contacts.  Everybody who is somebody usually attends their industry trade show (with the exception sometimes of smaller companies who find the set-up fees prohibitative), so you could meet all kinds of potential insiders here.  Consider your goals and who you want to meet to best pick the trade show you want to attend.  A writers trade show may have more companies that make products for writers than actual book publishers.  So if it’s publishers you want to meet, hit Book Expo, or another trade show geared toward publishers.  See the Tips section for more information.
  • Creative Camps - There are actually seminar camps where the goal is to become better in your chosen field of the arts.  Some are day camps (no overnight stays), others can last for weeks.
  • Link Exchange Partners - Our link exchange partners are a vital link in our chain of success (excuse the bad pun).  Consider doing business with them first and let them know you found them here.  If you find a company you like and they are not a partner, tell them you’re trying to deal only with partners of Owl Creek Arts Center and send them a link to our Home page and ask them to link to us and send us an email with the address of where they linked to us and we’ll add their link.  No charge, no membership needed.  We do not list companies with bad reputations or numerous complaints from our members and we do not list companies that print overseas.
  • Markets - Some of the more interesting places to place your work.
  • Agents - A list of agents who have agreed to review appropriate submissions by our award winners.
