OWL CREEK ARTIST ALERT #1 BEWARE OF “FREE” CONTESTS

Many free contests end up trying to get you to buy a book for $40-$75. I had a friend who was so proud of her daughter “getting published” in a poetry anthology, of course she bough the $75 dollar book that featured her poem. I didn’t have the heart to tell her she had been scammed in an artistic sense. First off, that is not “Getting Published”. When was the last time you saw any book at Barnes & Noble priced at $75? Usually only college texts can cost that much. Second, without an ISBN and being for sale in stores, you are not truly published. Creative Expressions is chance to see your work in a book, and will be sold here, but it will not be truly published. Nearly Famous books will be published and placed with wholesalers and for sale on internet bookstores, like Amazon. (Owl Creek Artist Alerts are provided to protect & inform our creative community).
